Another LNG Facility Project Put on Hold

BREAKING NEWS--BREAKING NEWS--BREAKING NEWS

The Downeast LNG facility in Maine is going to be put up for sale.

This facility is tied directly to the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline from the Baileyville compressor station. It is the second LNG facility to go down in flames--metaphorically!--in the past 3 months. This is a Spectra offshoring site!

The facility permits, suspended last November, were fought by local environmental groups and tribal councils from the Passamaquoddy. Sited in tribal lands, DowneastLNG had no rights to be doing what they had planned.

So, a need for a compressor station in Weymouth and Rehoboth? An enormous LNG storage tank farm in Acushnet? High volume, high pressure pipeline extension? We think not.
