Senators Markey and Warren & Congressman Lynch Submit Comments

Congressman Lynch, Senator Warren, and Senator Markey sent a letter to MassDEP in opposition to the proposed Air Quality Plan. We thank them for their support and encourage Gov. Baker to follow their lead.

It's also important to recognize the folks in the community who continuously call, email, and visit our state reps and urge them to speak out. Weymouth resident, Wendy, pushed hard to get Lynch, Warren, and Markey to submit comments on this matter and we thank her for her dedicated efforts!

Town of Weymouth's Air Quality Comments

The Town of Weymouth and their associated 10-person intervenor group submitted comments in regards to Spectra's Air Quality Plan. In addition to addressing concerns around inaccurate air quality modelling, the Town conducted independent noise monitoring and found that the compressor would exceed allowable nighttime noise standards.

Hingham Selectpeople Oppose Compressor

After growing public attention, the Hingham Selectpeople have signed a resolution opposing the compressor station. The residents of Hingham have been pushing hard for this. We are grateful to have their support!

"A large crowd of project opponents attended the selectmen’s meeting this week to express concern about potential negative impacts on air quality and local residents’ health. Their concerns also include possible noise and odors.

“Nothing is more important than health and safety issues affecting our families,” Selectman Paul Gannon said."

More Rehearing Requests filed by Mayor Hedlund and others

Last Friday, four requests for a rehearing, totaling over a dozen intervenors and intervening groups, were submitted to FERC (uploaded to the docket on Monday). Again, many thanks to the Town of Weymouth, City of Quincy, Food & Water Watch - New England, Councilor Haugh, 9 other regional groups and 2 local individuals who submitted a request for rehearing.
