LET MY PEOPLE GO! Exodus from Fossil Fuels: An Interfaith Witness for Climate Action
Monday, March 26th
12:00 noon at the State House in downtown Boston with a procession to the Back Bay

We are gathering people of all faiths to witness to climate injustice in our state, and to speak truth to Governor Baker. We have chosen March 26th because it is during Holy Week and right before Passover and Easter celebrations. We will be speaking from the heart of our diverse faiths, demanding that the Governor stop cooperating with fossil fuel interests and do everything in his power to stop the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure in the Commonwealth. We will confront the governor, as Moses confronted Pharaoh, with the realities of climate change and the very real "plagues" that climate change is bringing and will continue to bring...until we break free from fossil fuels and begin to repair our climate for future generations.
After an interfaith ceremony at the State House, we will proceed to the Back Bay, where a new pipeline project is slated to power luxury high rises with fracked gas. In the shadow of these modern-day pyramids of wealth inequality, we will witness to the injustice of climate change as well as to Boston's housing crisis which is putting unbearable stress on working families. Our action will be a living witness to our vision of a beloved community of equality and human dignity, and a life-sustaining society that lives with reverence and care for all life on planet Earth.
If you plan to risk arrest, please complete a training session in non-violent direct action, if you have not recently completed one. Options include 1:30-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, in Jamaica Plain (RSVP on FB at Call to Action: NVCD Training, https://www.facebook.com/events/330020890838678/), and 7:00-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, at Church of the Covenant in downtown Boston (RSVP on FB at Call to Action (2): NVCD Training, https://www.facebook.com/events/2297433897149809/).
Everyone who plans to risk arrest on March 26 is asked to meet in the sanctuary of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (138 Tremont St., Boston, opposite the Park Street stop on the MBTA), from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on March 26. If this is the only NVDA training that you can attend, that will suffice, although you will get more depth if you attend one of the other sessions.
