Community Meeting to Discuss and Document Health Impacts in the Fore River Basin

FRRACS is seeking health-related stories for a documentary film project as part of the fight against the Weymouth compressor station.

Are you a long-time resident of the Fore River Basin?
Have you or your family experienced health-related issues potentially as a result of exposure to pollution in the community?
Do you feel comfortable sharing your story?

Attend one of our community meetings to learn more about the project, and to share your story.

Join us for any one of the following meetings:

April 25 from 7:00 - 9:00PM at the Whipple Senior Center - McElroy Rm. in N. Weymouth

May 7 from 6:30 - 8:30PM at the Thayer Public Library in Braintree

May 22 from 6:30 - 8:30PM at the Germantown Community Center in Quincy

June 6 from 7:00 - 9:00PM at the Fore River Clubhouse in Quincy

There will be a short presentation about the toxicity of the Fore River Basin, as well as an overview of our project, followed by some Q&A, and opportunity to share your stories. Each meeting will be the same, so you only need to attend one.

Project details: The Fore River Basin is home to 8 different industrial facilities. These facilities release many pollutants that are damaging to our health and environment. That is one of the many reasons why we do not support the construction of yet another toxic facility. We believe that these facilities are harming people who live in the area. Our concern about existing health conditions in the Basin has led us to pursue a new project: Telling the Stories. This project is aimed at documenting the health issues that people are living with in the Fore River Basin. We will collect (voluntary) information and stories from folks in the community and will create a short documentary film to share these stories.
