Action Alert: Senate Voting on Energy Bill on Thursday

The State Senate is poised to vote on the energy omnibus bill, S2372, on Thursday.  The bill has some strong provisions, but we can go further by banning the pipeline tax, restoring gas leaks reforms, and supporting solar power.

CALL YOUR STATE SENATOR BEFORE THURSDAY'S VOTE! Script is below.

If you live in Quincy and Braintree, your senator is Sen. Keenan (617-722-1494). If you live in Weymouth your senator is Sen. O'Connor (617-722-1646). Or find your Senator here: Find your Senator at: https://malegislature.gov/People/Search

Please call your Senator to say:

My name is _________ and I’m a constituent.

I know you’ll be debating comprehensive energy legislation that recently passed the House. I urge you to advance these 4 priorities:

#1   Ban the pipeline tax. – Sen. Jehlen AMENDMENT

Consumers should not be forced to pay for gas pipelines we don’t need. Please prohibit electric companies from charging us for gas pipelines.

#2 Build on our gas leaks laws. Support Sen. Eldridge AMENDMENT

I am asking you to restore and strengthen the gas leaks repair policies included in the House Bill by adding worker safety provisions. Please support amendments by Senator Eldridge to fix gas leaks.
Thank you for protecting our environment, gas workers and first responders.

#3 Support Solar

Please ensure all communities have access to solar energy by supporting amendments to bolster low-income and community solar

#4 Hold firm on offshore wind and the Renewable Portfolio Standard.

I support the Senate’s plan to for at least 2,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy and to accelerate the “RPS.” These policies support local clean energy and good jobs

Thank you for picking up the phone and making this call.
