Toxic Tour Recap

FRRACS members and allies visited 7 agencies that have been involved in the compressor fight on our “Toxic Tour” today.

At each stop on the tour, we delivered "Enbridge Enabler" awards to each agency:

Gov. Charlie Baker - He has had the power all along to deny state permits to Enbridge for its proposed toxic Weymouth Compressor, and still does, but claims he has no power.

Massachusetts Department of Public Health - They ignored clear, present and future threats to Fore River Communities in rubber stamping an incomplete and invalid Health Impact Assessment.

Metropolitan Area Planning Council - They facilitated an incomplete and invalid Health Impact Assessment, then waited until state permits were granted before admitting to its fatal flaws.

Law Offices of Mintz Levin - Mintz both represented Enbridge in its unjust and unlawful toxic compressor air permit appeal hearing, while also representing and donating $83 thousand dollars to Charlie Baker's campaign.

TRC - They tried to call the land where the proposed Weymouth compressor would be built “Historic Fill” when it has now been admitted by the state to actually be toxic coal ash dump. And TRC now is proposing to ship and dump a superficial layer of this toxic coal ash around the state and into New Hampshire and Maine, and call it a site clean up.

BlackRock - They are one of the planet’s biggest investors in the dirtiest of fossil fuels, including in Enbridge, which seeks to build a toxic compressor in Weymouth, which will poison our children and pollute our planet, we, the People of Massachusetts confer this certificate of Enbridge Enabler and Fossil Fuel Financier to BlackRock.

Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection - They have, at each and every step in the five-year process of Enbridge’s attempt to build a toxic compressor in Weymouth, protected the interests of Enbridge over the Environment, over the communities in the Fore River Basin, and over the people of Massachusetts.
