Thank you so much to our legislators who sent a letter to MassDOT Secretary Pollack and MBTA GM Poftak requesting a risk assessment for the Fore River Bridge. There are serious vurnablilites to this critical piece of transportation infrastructure.

Any closure of the bridge from an accident or explosion causing a bridge closure would cause buses, ambulances and over 33,000 motor vehicles to be rerouted through Weymouth Landing.

Also if the shipping channel was closed it would severly impact the local economy including shutting down ship access the large CITGO gasoline and heating terminal in East Braintree. CITGO provides heating oil and gasoline to much of Southern New England.
