Bad news, friends. Goliath just got a lot bigger.

In an interesting turn of events, the Canadian company, Enbridge, has announced that they will be purchasing Spectra Energy for a whopping $37 Billion. Enbridge is also involved in the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Sandpiper Pipeline. 

Opposition against the Dakota Access Pipeline is growing everyday. Though you might not be able to lend your support in person, you can support in other ways. We encourage you to donate what you can to help support the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and their allies as they fight to defend and protect their land and water.

Dr. Curt Nordgaard, who has been collecting air quality samples throughout Quincy and Weymouth, recently submitted a letter to FERC in regards to the serious toxic impacts that the proposed project could have. Read his letter below!

The USFS (United States Forest Service) and George Washington National Forest stood up to Dominion Energy, who are awaiting permit approval for their proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline.

In Spectra's latest communication with FERC, they claim to have acquired 3.5 acres of land that is underwater. Yes, underwater land. 

This information is from our friends in Connecticut and includes sample testimony that you can use to submit your comments.

More good news this week - Eversource and National Grid have backed out of their contract for Access Northeast. This news comes after the Supreme Judicial Court ruled against the pipeline tax; Eversource & National Grid have no interest in paying for the pipelines themselves.

Eversource has withdrawn DPU Docket 15-181 their application for capacity on Access Northeast.

BREAKING NEWS: The Town of Weymouth has a new filing under docket CP16-9 just uploaded today. The Town is demanding a new EA due to issues with lot size and the secretive Calpine agreement.

This Sunday, August 21, there will be solidarity vigils to support the 200+ folks fighting the Dakota Access pipeline in southern North Dakota. This large transmission pipeline would cross the Missouri river, just feet from the Standing Rock Sioux community's water intake in its run from North Dakota to Illinois. There will be a solidarity vigil on Sunday in Plainfield, that you are welcome to attend. If you cannot go in person, we encourage you to join our "virtual vigil." Click for details.

The Braintree Town Council has spoken out against the compressor and the pipeline that would run through Pond Meadow Park.

Although Spectra accepted the 1-year stay put forth by Coastal Zone Management (CZM), that doesn't mean that we have won or that we should stall our efforts. It's important to continue raising our voices and contacting the appropriate agencies during the stay. The stay buys us time, so we need to utilize it. Spectra has agreed to  the Coastal Zone Management''s (CZM) one year stay on the Atlantic Bridge compressor!
