Important update about Access Northeast and what the recent "withdrawal" means.

Senators Warren and Markey recently sent a letter to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration to request that they conduct a risk assessment of the proposed compressor station.

Senators Warren and Markey sent a letter to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) last week, asking for a risk assessment on the proposed compressor station. They cite concerns around the proposed compressor's close proximity to the MWRA pumping station and other facilities.

To keep the pressure up, we are asking folks to call Alan Mayberry, Associate Director of PHMSA, to follow-up on the request for a risk assessment.

Senators Warren and Markey submitted a letter to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) on June 21, 2017. In their letter, they ask for a risk assessment of the compressor, given its close proximity to the MWRA station and other facilities.

Candidate for Governor, Jay Gonzales, opposes the compressor station.

FRRACS does not endorse particular candidates, but we welcome the opportunity to work with all those who understand the gravity of our situation and the gravity of climate change and how it is already negatively affecting us all.

The City of Quincy has been a great ally in the fight against the compressor. Thanks to the work of local residents and community groups, including Quincy Climate Action Network, the City of Quincy has passed two resolutions relating to the compressor station: One resolution deals with waterways issues (2016); the other deals with both S.469 and air quality monitoring (2017). We'd also like to thank Councillors Croall and LaForest for continuous, dedicated efforts in the fight against the compressor.

FRRACS submitted an appeal to Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) in response to their Written Determination for Spectra's Waterways License application.

To better understand current levels of air pollution in the form of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), FRRACS worked with GeoLabs/Phoenix Environmental Laboratories, a local testing laboratory using EPA approved testing methods to gather data in and around the Fore River Basin. FRRACS and the North Weymouth Civic Association also purchased formaldehyde testing badges that were analyzed by Advanced Chemical Sensors, a certified testing laboratory.  The results were alarming.

Congressman Lynch wrote a letter of concern to the Executive Director of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), which falls under the U.S. Department of Transportation. For nearly two years, we have been trying to engage in conversation with PHMSA, as this is a project that should heavily concern them.
